I used to be an enthusiastic cook. 20+ years of turning out family dinner every night and I have slightly run out of steam. I still cook at home but love to eat out and try new places. I started this blog as I seem to eat out a lot and friends often ask for recommendations for restaurants and cafes. Also I sometimes forget where I have been!

If you are looking for the latest hipster place with banging tunes this blog may not be for you, but if you want ideas for nice places to go for a catchup and something tasty to eat and drink you are in the right place.  It is unlikely you will ever have to shout to your companions over loud music in any of the places recommended here.

I have tried to label recommendations so they are searchable.  For example if you are looking for breakfast / brunch search ‘brunch’ and all the places recommended will (should) come up.   Other searchable labels are ‘lunch’, ‘dinner’ , ‘cocktails’ and ‘drinks’.

These are not restaurant reviews, I am not Jay Rayner, but just some recommendations of restaurants, cafes and bars that I have visited and enjoyed.
